The family home in Burgundy-Franche-Comté is an old farmhouse that has been renovated for more than 40 years and is still being renovated today. During a construction site on one of the roofs of one of the buildings,
the carpenters had to remove hundreds of oak slats. More than 70 years old and stored to be reused as garden stakes, they were just waiting for my visit for the idea of this structure to emerge.
I immediately thought of creating an elliptical shape that runs counter to that of traditional country buildings.
An aesthetic intention diverging from the original function gives an enhancement of the latter which will never again be obscured between supporting beams and tiles.
